SPECIALISMS
Bereavement, Loss & Endings
Loss affects us all and can disrupt our ability to manage our everyday lives. We are often under pressure to get back to 'normal' as quickly as possible. Support at this time is very important and talking things through with someone who is not emotionally attached to your situation can be of great benefit.
Working with Young People
I have worked with young people since 2006. Young people experience difficulties too, such as bullying, self-harming and lack of self-esteem. They may benefit from having someone of their own to talk things through with. I am a Trauma informed & Mental Health Schools & Communities Practitioner (TISUK).
WORKING WITH PROFESSIONALS
I have extensive experience working with professionals, either in a clinical supervisory/consultancy role or in a therapeutic role as required. I work with individuals or for staff/teams in organisations. Please contact me for further information.
Brain Working Recursive Therapy
‘BWRT®’ stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®’, a modern model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI. It uses a totally logical, practical and down-to-earth working method in which it’s not necessary for you to talk about anything you would rather not discuss – the practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead. BWRT® is unlike any other therapy you might have heard of or read about, using the latest discoveries in neuroscience coupled with your own unique brain processes to help you get better. Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code. Find out more at http://www.bwrt.org
Domestic Violence
I have over 10 years experience working in a women's refuge, as Head of Counselling & Supervision Services, providing counselling & supervision for children, adults and staff, as well as managing a placement service for counselling trainees who provided support for vulnerable women. I work with men who have experienced domestic violence too. Counselling can help you to understand why you choose the partners in your life, to be aware of warning signs in future partners and to talk about the experiences you have been through in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
STRESS & ANXIETY
Today, now more than ever, we are living a fast paced life that can be hard to keep up with. Stress and anxiety can be a result of this and the symptoms can range from stress headaches to full blown anxiety/panic attacks. Talking therapies can help to alleviate these symptoms and you can learn why your body is responding as it is and what techniques and coping strategies can help you to manage better.
Depression
Depression can manifest in many forms, from feeling sad to not being able to function normally, feeling suicidal, and becoming isolated as your world becomes smaller as you avoid the world outside. Counselling can provide you with a safe place to talk about your own experience of depression, to help you make decisions about any treatment or diagnosis you may be seeking, or to learn new coping strategies to help you get through each day.
